Tracking numbers appear here once the camera is running.
Record three to five examples of each sign. Before the countdown ends, put your hands where the sign starts. Sign once at your normal pace, then hold the last position still until recording stops.
Nothing taught yet. Fingerspelling works without teaching; word signs need examples. Go to Teach to record some.
Signing so it can be read
- Sit so your head, shoulders and hands up to your waist are in view, in even light.
- Pause briefly at the end of each sign and each fingerspelled letter. The rail under the video turns to Holding when a pause counts.
- Drop your hands below the dashed line to end a fingerspelled word. A long rest starts a new line.
Fingerspelling
The SgSL one-handed alphabet is built in. J and Z are read from their movement. If a letter is often misread for you, teach it as a Letter; your examples then replace the built-in version.
Word signs
There is no ready-made SgSL vocabulary, so word signs come from examples you record. Each example keeps the handshapes, where your hands are relative to your face and body, how they move, and your facial expression. Three to five examples of each sign is a good start; record them on different days or in different light if recognition is patchy.
Output is SgSL gloss in signing order, such as YESTERDAY TABLE I BUY
, not translated English.
